Our Story

Custom Roofing Contracting, Ltd. was established in 1989 and has been providing high quality services to Cary and the surrounding Fox River Valley areas ever since. Our story began in 1988 when our owner, Gene and his family, moved from Kentucky to Illinois. Gene worked for a roofing company in his new community and decided that he wanted to do the sales for them but they didn't have a spot open for him. Instead of waiting on someone else to give him a chance, Gene started his own roofing business with his wife Sharla in their one bedroom apartment. After building his home, he was able to work out of it until he had the opportunity to purchase our current operating space, which has proven suitable for the company's needs. Unfortunately, Gene passed away in 2005, leaving the company to Sharla. She then decided to make longtime employee Ken the vice president and he owns a portion of the business as well.

Over the past 30 years, our team has established deep roots and built up strong relationships with community members in McHenry and Lake Counties. Our commitment to excellence guides each one of our team members to provide unmatched customer care and clear communication methods to our clients. We were able to line up installation while we were out of town, and the team was very responsive to questions and reached out to let me know how things were going. As expected, there was damage to some underlayment and they were able to let me know and get it replaced. The project was completed in 2 days (needed an extra day due to rain), and the clean up was vey impressive as well. I have two toddlers and two dogs, so it was very important that there were no nails or scraps left around the house. The team was on time, worked hard, and treated my house as if it were their own. I could not be happier.
